Claude Monet is one of the most well-known and influential painters of the Impressionist movement. He is best known for his paintings of water lilies, haystacks, and his garden at Giverny. Monet was born in Paris in 1840. He studied art at the Academie Suisse and was a pupil of artist Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. Monet's paintings were exhibited in 1874 at the first Impressionist exhibition.
