Claude Monet was a French painter who lived from 1840 to 1926. He was born in Paris, France and lived there until he was 12 years old. Monet was the first Impressionist painter. He painted mostly landscapes, with some figures and still lifes. Monet painted on both canvas and paper. He was also known for his flowers, which he painted outside in the garden. He often painted the same subject many times.
